Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers missed its chance to come to North America back in the day. The Japanese role-playing game was originally released for the Sega Saturn in 1997 and later on received an improved version for the PlayStation in 1999, but an English release never happened. Fortunately, Atlus will change that really soon, since the company is planning to release a localized version of the Nintendo 3DS remake in spring of 2013.
For the uninitiated, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is a first-person dungeon crawler RPG set in a futuristic cyberpunk universe. The 3DS port features various enhancements such as improved loading times, additional battle animations, new demons, improved controls and a new opening cutscene, among many other features.
Apart from the Persona spin-offs, I’ve never played any other titles from the Shin Megami Tensei series. Still, if Soul Hackers’ teaser video (embedded on top) is any indication of the quality of the game count me in!
