Read Thread Games is working on the third game in The Longest Journey series and to fund it, they have turned their attention to Kickstarter. Not only has the Kickstarter campaign for Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey officially launched, but it has already received more than $600,000. Red Thread Games is expecting to accrue $850,000 and it seems like the project will be fully funded really soon. Additionally, the developer has confirmed that if everything goes according to plan, the sequel will come out in November 2014.
As the pitch video embedded on top explains, the upcoming adventure game for the PC will continue the story of the critically-acclaimed series (if you haven’t played The Longest Journey or Dreamfall: The Longest Journey note that the aforementioned video has some spoilers, so don’t make the same mistake I did and skip the video for now.) According to the Kickstarter description, Chapters will feature heroine Zoë Castillo as she explores the twin worlds of Stark and Arcadia.
Regarding the campaign, contributors who pledge at least $20 will have access to a digital copy of the game. Tiers above $110, on the other hand, will have access to a boxed copy of the PC game that includes a DVD and manual. As usual, there are numerous benefits for those contributors who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars to help fund the game. For a more through description of those benefits check the Kickstarter page.
