Age of Empires II HD Coming to Steam on April 9th

Age of Empires HD Edition

Microsoft announced that a high-definition version of Age of Empires II is coming to Steam on April 9th and you can save 10 percent until that day (you can pre-purchase the game for $18.) Although the original version of Age of Empires II was developed by Ensemble Studios, this upgraded version of the real-time strategy game is in charge of Hidden Path Entertainment.

It’s worth pointing out that Age of Empires II HD features both The Age of Kings and The Conquerors expansion, as well as online multiplayer. From a technical standpoint, the game supports up to 1080p and the visual engine has been upgraded to display improved textures and effects. Additionally, there are achievements, leaderboards, matchmaking and cloud support.

GameSpot revealed the minimum system requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:
Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 Pro
Steam Software Platform
900×600 minimum display resolution
Direct X 9 Capable GPU
1.2GHz CPU

Taking into account that for many (myself included,) Age of Empires II was their first real-time strategy game, releasing an upgraded HD version seems like a great idea. And the fact that most modern laptops can run it, makes Age of Empires II HD Edition the perfect title to play almost anywhere.
