Indie Games – Abobo’s Big Adventure

Abobo’s Big Adventure is a really well put together flash game that parodies some of the most popular 8-bit titles, including (*takes a big breath*) Double Dragon, Mega Man, River City Ransom, Tetris, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Jaws, Urban Champion, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Dig Dug, Balloon Fight, Punch Out!, Blaster Master, Bubble Bubble and Contra, among many, many others that I totally forgot. Although Abobo gives the impression of being a title that blatantly parodies all the aforementioned games, it also represents a tribute to the 8-bit era, so if you remember that period of time quite fondly, you should definitely give Abobo’s Big Adventure a chance.

The experience of playing NES titles has been truly replicated here. Each level meticulously recreates a game in particular and Abobo can also be played with a traditional NES gamepad. Those who have an appreciation for classic NES titles will get much more out of this experience that those who never owned the system. So if you are one of those who had an NES, this will definitely be one of the funniest games you’ll ever play. To me, it’s hard to think that the most fun I’ve had with a game this year was with a free game.

Abobo’s Big Adventure can be played for free on its official site.
