A high-definition remake of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is being developed by Sega Studios Australia, Sega confirmed on the PlayStation Blog. Despite being announced on the PlayStation Blog, the remake of the fondly remembered classic is also coming to Xbox 360 and PC (via Steam.)
The remake will feature 2.5 gameplay with 3D graphics and the original game’s director is supervising the project to maintain the remake as close to the original as possible. The upcoming game will come out some time this summer on PSN, XBLA and Steam. As of this writing, no price was announced.
A high-definition version of the classic sounds great, especially for those who missed the original Castle of Illusion. I must admit I’m one of those people, so I couldn’t be more excited.
The original Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse came out in 1990 for the Sega Genesis. The classic platformer was the first title in the “Illusion” series which also included Land of Illusion, World of Illusion and Legend of Illusion. Back in the day, critics praised Castle of Illusion’s controls, level design, music and fluid animations.
