Discord Games recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance Chasm, a 2D action role-playing game platformer which is being developed for PC, Mac and Linux. As you probably noticed by now, the title takes inspiration from the Metroid, Castlevania, Zelda and Diablo series.
In the game, you play as a soldier who’s visiting a remote town, but he’s trapped by a supernatural evil power. Exploring the mines below will allow him to fight enemies, level up and obtain abilities that will let the soldier reach previously inaccessible areas.
Discord Games needs $150,000 to fund Chasm and they have already raised $35,734. With 27 days to go, the game has great possibilities of being a successful campaign. Chasm is also on Steam Greenlight, so you’ll probably see it on the service soon.
Not convinced yet? Let’s recap: Chasm is a 2D action RPG that features Metroid-like dungeons, responsive controls and pixel art. Count me in! By the way, Discord Games released a prototype for the game and this GDC demo is available for free on the Kickstarter page.
