Atlus is giving me an incentive to catch up with the Shin Megami Tensei series, since they recently confirmed that the forth iteration is coming to North America. As its name indicates, this upcoming 3DS title is the sequel to 2004’s Shin Megami Tensei III, commonly known as Nocturne.
Although Japanese fans will be playing the long-awaited RPG next month, North American fans will have to wait until summer. Still, fans who are interested in Shin Megami Tensei IV can already pre-order the game through its official website. The game will be available for $49.99.
Although I don’t want to give too much away in terms of story, let me just say that Shin Megami Tensei IV will focus on one of the series’ most engaging mechanics: demon collecting. According to the press release there are around 400 demons to “recruit, collect and fuse together.” This sounds like a more twisted take on Pokémon if you ask me.
