I’ve always wanted to play Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, but tracking down a physical copy of the game was harder than I expected. Now the action-adventure game is coming out digitally as a PlayStation 2 Classic, which means that people who want to play the first installment of the Castlevania series on the PS2 won’t have to look for the disc anymore.
In Lament of Innocence, the player needs to guide Leon Belmont through a castle in order to rescue his lover who has been kidnapped by a vampire. The game’s premise does sound overly generic, but Lament of Innocence has some inviting gameplay ideas. Instead of using the traditional 2D sidescrolling style of gameplay, Lament of Innocence uses a 3D and even though most Castlevania fans have strong opinions about the latter, this PS2 title still feels like a genuine Castlevania.
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence will be available on the PlayStation Network this Tuesday . As most PlayStation 2 Classics, Lament of Innocence should be available for $9.99.
