Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II and Sonic CD are coming to the Android-powered console Ouya on June 27th for $6.99 each, Sega announced. Each of these titles will be optimized to run on Ouya hardware (more specifically on the Tegra 3 processor) and as part of the console’s policy, the first few levels of each title will be available for free.
The trio of Sega games were released on iOS and Android devices, but it’s great to hear that the Ouya versions will have some improvements, including the ability to play the first levels completely free of charge. The Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episodes and Sonic CD will cost $6.99 each.
The Ouya has partnered with a few AAA developers (including Square Enix and Sega) which is great for those players who want to play titles from well-known franchises, but don’t want to spent hundreds of dollars on video game consoles. Other titles that will be available on the Ouya platform include Fez, Final Fantasy III, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and Shadowrun Online.
The Ouya is will launch on June 25th, 2013 at a retail price of $99.
