Bethesda announced that a downloadable version of Wolfenstein 3D is now available on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and Steam for $4.99. id Software’s seminal first-person shooter can be downloaded now in North America, but PSN users who live in Europe will have to wait a while longer, since the game is “coming soon” to that territory.
Wolfenstein 3D came out on both PSN and XBLA in 2009, but that particular version was released by Activision. Since then, Bethesda acquired id Software, but the title had to be re-rated before they could release it again. Despite the brief absence from those digital distribution services, no changes were made to Wolfenstein 3D, so this is still the first-person shooter we all know and love.
Bethesda and Machine Games are working on Wolfenstein: The New Order which is expected to come out sometime later this year (Q4 to be more precise) for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and the next generation of consoles.
