During PAX Australia, Gearbox Software revealed plans to remake real-time strategy series Homeworld. Following the acquisition of the franchise from THQ for $1.35 million, Gearbox expects to release high-definition remakes of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 later this year. But that’s not all, since unaltered versions of the original Homeworld games will be released digitally on Steam and probably other digital distribution services.
A lot of purists are interested in going back to the original releases and newcomers will probably want to play the high-definition remakes, so both announcements are good depending on which side you’re on. Just by curiosity, what would you recommend to someone who’s always been interested in the series, but has never had a chance to play the original games? Original or HD remake?
