Pokémon X & Y Nintendo Direct Announces Online Storage Service, More Mega Pokémon

Satoru Iwata and Junichi Masuda sat to talk about the upcoming Pokémon X & Y titles. A couple of announcements were made during the latest Pokémon X & Y Nintendo Direct presentation. Here’s what you need to know:

Pokémon Bank

Pokémon Bank is a cloud storage service that will allow you to deposit up to 3000 Pokémon in boxes that will be stored on the internet. Since the service will need regular maintenance, an annual fee will be required. As of this news article, the price for the service hasn’t been revealed yet.

Poké Transporter

The Poké Transporter is a downloadable add-on that will be available for everyone using Pokémon Bank. The add-on will let you transfer Pokémon from Black/White and Black 2/White 2 to the Pokémon Bank. Once in the Bank, these Pokémon can be used in X & Y.

As most of you probably know, Pokémon X and Y starter Pokémon will be Chespin, Fennekin and Frokie. The partner Pokémon given by the professor will be Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle from the original Red and Blue games. Additionally, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle will have mega evolutions (Mega Venasaur, Mega Charizard and Mega Bulbasar respectively.)

Special Edition Nintendo 3DS XL

A special edition of the Nintendo 3DS XL will be available on September 27th in North America and Europe. The special edition of the portable console will be available in red and blue colors.

Release Date

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will launch on October 12th.
