Nintendo Direct Recap: Release Dates of Wii U and 3DS Games

The Legend of Zelda - A Link Between Worlds (3DS)

Yesterday, there was a Nintendo Direct and the company announced the release dates of many of their upcoming Wii U and 3DS titles. As usual, I decided to compile all announcements in the form of a list with everything you need to know.

  • Super Mario 3D World launches on November 22nd.
  • Nintendo showed two new minigames for Wii Party U: Dance with Mii and Water Runners. The game launches on October 25th.
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been delayed. Instead of coming out this December, the game will launch in February 2014.
  • Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games comes out on November 15th.
  • The Nintendo 3DS and Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. have another playable character: Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • Pikmin 3 will receive new mission modes in the form of DLC. The first update will be free, but subsequent ones will cost $1.99 a piece. A new software update fixes some issues with the records and global rankings functionality.
  • Etryan Odyssey Untold: Millennium Girl is now available (the 3DS game launched on October 1st.)
  • Just Dance 2014 comes out on October 8th for the Wii U.
  • Skylanders: Swap Force launches on October 13th for both the Wii U and 3DS.
  • Lego Marvel Super Heroes comes to both the Wii U and 3DS October 22nd.
  • Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate comes to the 3DS on October 25th.
  • Sonic: Lost World, which is coming for the Wii U and 3DS, has a new trailer.
  • The Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag comes to the Wii U on October 29th.
  • A demo for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies is available on now and the full version of the 3DS game will launch on October 24th.
  • A retail version of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD is coming, Nintendo has announced.
  • In case you’ve forgotten about it, the Nintendo 2DS is launching simultaneously with Pokémon X & Y on October 12th.
  • Bravely Default is coming in Q1 2014.
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds won’t follow some of the series’ conventions, so instead of finding weapons in dungeons, you can buy most of them at specific shops. The game comes out on November 22nd.
  • A new Kirby side-scrolling platformer (which is not the actual name of the game) is coming to the 3DS in 2012.
