Without a doubt, 1999’s Typing of the Dead must be one of the weirdest arcade games ever made. For the uninitiated, Typing of the Dead is a modified version of House of the Dead 2 where instead of killing zombies with a light gun, you kill them by typing words with a keyboard.
Luckily for those of you who missed that gem back in the day, Sega has ported House of the Dead: Overkill to the PC (the game was originally released on the Nintendo Wii and came out on the PlayStation 3 two years later) and interestingly, the game ditches the traditional light gun functionality and features typing mechanics instead.
A few days ago, when Steam launched the Halloween sale, Sega released Typing of the Dead: Overkill on the popular digital distribution service. Overkill is now available on the PC for $19.99 (though you can buy it at half its usual price until November 1st.) Additionally, Sega has stated that the cooperative functionality will be released as part of an upcoming update.
