Nintendo Direct February: Mario 8, X, GBA on Virtual Console, More

As part of their Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo shared the latest news regarding some of its upcoming titles, as well as a few surprises. In case you haven’t had a chance to watch the latest Nintendo Direct, I decided to share it here and I also compiled all major announcements in the form of a list.

  • Super Smash Bros. has a new character. Little Mac from Punch-Out is coming to Nintendo’s fighting game when it launches later this year.
  • Mario Golf: World Tour for the 3DS has a new single-player mode in which players will be able to use customizable Miis. The game comes out on May 2nd.
  • For Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Nintendo showed some of the abilities that Kirby will be able to absorb, as well as the collectible items (hidden key chains and sun stones.) The 3DS title launches on March 14th.
  • As its name suggests, Steel Diver: Sub Wars is the successor to Steel Diver. In the downloadable title for the 3DS, players will be able to control a submarine from a first-person perspective to compete in a single-player or multiplayer campaigns. The game’s available now and you can choose to download a paid version that features both the single-player and multiplayer campaigns or a free version that only features the multiplayer one.
  • Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball for the 3DS features baseball-themed minigames. Interestingly, the core game is available for free, but if you want to buy additional minigames you can haggle. The game will be available this April.
  • Pokemon: Battle Trozei is a match-three game where you can capture 700 pocket monsters. The game will be available on March 20th for the 3DS.
  • Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy is coming to the 3DS on February 28th.
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate features new actions that will make hunting more fluid and online coop modes. The game will be out in early 2015.
  • Weapon Shop de Omasse is an RPG that puts you in the shoes of a shopkeeper and you forge weapons using rhythm minigames. The game will be available for download on February 20th.
  • Inezuma Eleven is now available for the 3DS.
  • A few upcoming 3DS titles were mentioned during the presentation, including Treasurenauts, Moon Chronicles, Shovel Knight, 1001 Spikes and Retro City Rampage.
  • Child of Light is coming to the Wii U on April 30th for $14.99.
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has a new trailer. The game launches on February 21st.
  • NES Remix 2 features iconic moments from Super Mario Bros. 3, Kirby’s Adventure and Metroid, among many other classic titles. The game will also include Super Luigi Bros. where you’ll play the original Super Mario Bros. as Luigi and you’ll move from right to left. Volume 2 of NES Remix will be available on April 25th.
  • Game Boy Advance titles are coming to the Virtual Console, including Metroid Fusion, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3.
  • Mario Kart 8 has new characters, including all seven of the Koopalings. The game launches on May 30th.
  • Japanese role-playing game X has a new trailer.
  • Bayonetta 2 from Platinum games has a new trailer. The game will launch later in 2014 in Japan.
