Let’s be honest, the 2015 version of Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers was far from the best, but an upcoming expansion will try to fix some of the game’s most serious problems. Garruk’s Revenge is coming to PC, Android, iOS, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Kindle on November 5th, according to a recent press release. The expansion will cost $4.99 and features more cards, four new campaign levels and a new deck.
Publisher Wizards of the Coast also announced that all the cards from the original Magic 2015 campaign, the Hunt Bigger Game and Garruk’s Revenge are can be obtained through gameplay. So this time around you won’t have to spend any money to unlock additional cards or boosters.
Stainless Games’ latest addition to the Duels of the Planeswalkers series was poorly received. The game might have added the highly-requested Deck Building feature, but it also forced players to spend money on cards though micro-transactions. In my review, this is what I had to say about the game: “Magic 2015 gets rids of some of the best aspects of its predecessor and replaces them with questionable design decisions which totally ruin the experience.”
