The Xbox 360 version of Defiance is now available as a free-to-play title, developer Trion Worlds has announced on its official blog. Although the game was originally released as a premium experience, Defiance eventually became a free-to-play game. The PC version made the transition on June 4th, the PlayStation 3 on July 15th, but Xbox 360 owners had to wait until November 18th.
Although the game is free-to-play, take into account that you need an Xbox Live Gold membership to play online, a requirement I can’t believe Microsoft is still charging for in this day and age. If you’re an Xbox Live Gold member, you’ll be able to download the game for free and play for as long as you want.
The most inviting aspect about the Defiance game is that the third-person shooter works as a cross-over with the series, so if you watch the SyFy show, you’ll notice that some of the events of the games are tied to those of the TV series and vice versa.
