Top 10: PlayStation Now Launch Games

The Last of Us

The PlayStation Now streaming service has just launched and features over 200 titles that are playable on the PS4, PS3 and Vita systems. I’m pretty sore more games will be added soon and from platforms other that PS3, but for now, here are some of the best PlayStation Now games that launched with the streaming service. Take into account that this is a list with some personal favorites or with titles that I think are perfect to check out now that the service has just debuted.

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite 03

I loved the original BioShock, but I think the third entry in the series in infinitely better (pun intended.) BioShock Infinite is outstanding from an audiovisual, narrative and design perspective. What I love the most about the game is its intricate and open-to-interpretation narrative that deals with numerous issues. If you haven’t played the game before and you’re looking for something to play on PlayStation Now, Infinite won’t disappoint.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

PlayStation Now allows you to rent games and if you want a terrific title that you can finish in a handful of hours, Enslaved is definitely for you. For many, this is a cult title (or a hidden gem) that deserved more attention and while a lot of people missed it back in the day, maybe they can discover it in this sort of re-release.

Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy XIII (PC)

If you want to test PlayStation Now’s streaming capabilities (or if you want to know if your internet connection is up to the task,) what better game to try than Final Fantasy XIII? A lot of people have strong opinions about Final Fantasy XIII, but regardless of what you think about the game, if you want to try something that looks absolutely stunning on PS Now, this is probably your game.

God of War: Ascension

God of War Ascension Multiplayer Mode

I was a fan of the God of War series, but as soon as the trilogy was over, I lost interest in the series. So I missed everything that came after the first trilogy and I feel like I have some catching up to do. If like me, you missed the latest entry in the action-adventure series, you’ll be glad to hear that God of War: Ascension is available on PlayStation Now .

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2

I think it’s weird to see that Mass Effect 2 is available on PlayStation Now and that the original and third entries are nowhere to be found on the service. Nevertheless, if you just want a game that looks amazing to try the streaming service and you’re into RPGs/first-person shooters, Mass Effect 2 is definitely your game.

Spelunky (PS4)

Spelunky isn’t for everybody. Some people are indifferent to it and some people are way too passionate about the game. If you don’t know who you are, you can rent the game for a few hours or a weekend and see if Spelunky is for you or not. But beware, it might be a one way trip.

The Last of Us

The Last of Us (PS3)

Usually regarded as one of the best titles of the seventh generation of video games, The Last of Us stands out for its emotional narrative, solid gameplay and terrific visuals. If you missed the game or if you never owned a PS3, here’s a second chance to play one of the best games to grace our beloved medium.

Ultra Street Fighter IV

Ultra Street Fighter 4

Playing adventure games or JRPGs is fine, but is PlayStation Now up to the task when it comes to fast-paced fighting games? According to some of the reviews I’ve read, it is (that is, as long as you have at least a 5 MB connection.) But if you want to test it for yourself, you can download Ultra Street Fighter IV and compete against players from all over the globe.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Aliens)

For those who prefer slower titles where you have to pay attention to every single detail, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is definitely your game. It can be punishing, but XCOM is also one of the most gratifying titles you can play and it’s also available on PS Now.

Motorstorm: Apocalypse

Motorstorm - Apocalypse

Another title that received glowing reviews back in the day, but hasn’t been mentioned a lot ever since. Motorstorm: Apocalypse is definitely one of the best racing games on the PlayStation 3 and if you want to play it for the first time or revisit it to see if you still got it, PlayStation Now offers you that possibility.
